Dentures

Missing teeth can significantly impact your oral health, ability to eat and speak, and daily quality of life. Dentures are a time-tested solution for widespread tooth loss. They can help you eat, speak, and smile with confidence once again. The dentists at Harris Dental Clinic in Laurel, MS, have more than 40 years of combined experience providing custom-made dentures.

Dentures Offer Manu Benefits

Health

Missing teeth increases the risk of developing several additional dental issues, including further tooth loss, cavities, and a weakened jawbone. Even a single missing tooth can make some of these more likely. A lack of teeth can also lead to an inability to eat a sufficiently healthy diet.

Function

Crucial daily tasks like eating and speaking can be much more difficult for people missing their natural teeth. Dentures are a great way to restore these abilities, allowing you to talk and eat with renewed ease and confidence.

Look

Your natural teeth provide the necessary support to your facial structure. A lack of teeth leads to jawbone deterioration, which can cause wrinkling and a sunken look, making you appear years older than you actually are. Receiving dentures can help you fight these aesthetic concerns and can give you a renewed and more youthful appearance.

Happiness

Many patients who suffer from tooth loss find themselves constantly hiding their smiles. This can actually take a toll on your happiness since smiling is known to raise dopamine and serotonin levels. These are stress-reducing hormones that cause positive feelings when released into the body.

We Offer Several Types of Dentures

The artificial teeth in each of our denture options are made of porcelain. Our dentists, Robert Culpepper, and Chadwick Harris, choose porcelain because it is powerful, stain-resistant, and long-lasting.

Partial Dentures

Many people are under the impression that dentures are only for those who are missing all their teeth. This is not the case. Partial dentures are a great dentistry option for patients missing just some of the teeth along a dental arch. Partial dentures work by clipping onto the backs of existing teeth and resting on top of your gums. The use of tooth-colored clips and a gum-like base ensures partial dentures seamlessly blend into your existing smile.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures, commonly referred to as full dentures, are used to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Depending on your needs, you can receive full dentures for your top arch, bottom arch, or both. This option is ideal for patients who are missing all or nearly all of their teeth but do not want to pay for dental implants. Complete dentures fit tightly to your gums but remain totally removable.

Implant Dentures

Dental implants are surgically implanted titanium posts that act as tooth roots. Dentures that are supported by dental implants provide the highest stability and support. Implant-supported dentures are more expensive. However, many of our Laurel patients believe they are well worth the price because implants are the only treatment that prevents jawbone recession. They also permanently secure dentures, eliminating the risk of slippage.

Tooth Loss Is Common, and So Are Dentures

According to the American College of Prosthodontists, 120 million Americans are missing at least one tooth. Thirty-six million of these Americans have no teeth at all. Both numbers are expected to continue growing for years to come. A full 90% of those suffering from a lack of natural teeth have dentures.

If You Need Dentures, Act Now

The longer you go without your natural teeth, the more your upper and lower jaw will recede. Though dental implants are the only treatment option that can halt and prevent jawbone recession, removable dentures still provide important support for your face and mouth.

Waiting to receive your dentures makes it harder to fit them, which can affect comfort and function properly. While our expert dentists can often work around even the most complex issues, acting now will make receiving dentures easier on you and your mouth.

How We Make Dentistry Affordable

Dental insurance provides coverage for partial and complete dentures, both removable and implant-supported. Unfortunately, dental insurance will not cover the actual placement of dental implants.

Because our dentists know how necessary it is to address tooth loss, they have committed to helping our Mississippi patients with any out-of-pocket costs. We accept CareCredit®, a third-party financing option that allows you to make dental payments in convenient monthly installments with little or no interest.

Receiving dentures can dramatically improve many areas of your life. While some improvements are immediate, you should expect to take a little time to adjust to your dentures. Our dentists will provide you with experience-backed advice to help you transition into speaking and eating comfortably with your new restorations. Patients who opt for implant-supported dentures will not have to worry about any adjustment period.

Simple Cleaning

Dentures give patients a fresh start on maintaining a beautiful and healthy smile. You can treat your new dentures just like your natural teeth. This means brushing them twice a day, flossing at least once daily, and maintaining a regular appointment schedule with our dentists in Laurel.
