Drastically Brighten Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

If you are seeking a photo-ready smile that will turn heads, our Laurel, MS, dental practice offers porcelain veneers. A more longterm solution than dental bonding, these thin, porcelain shells are placed directly on top of a tooth to conceal chips, malformation, or damage to the teeth. Once one of the dentists at Harris Dental Clinic has placed one or more porcelain veneers, you can enjoy the drastic cosmetic benefits of this unique treatment. Our dental practice also serves nearby Hattiesburg.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

If you want to completely revamp your smile, porcelain veneers offer immediate results that will leave your smile photo-ready 24/7. Porcelain veneers can address:

  • Chips or cracks on their teeth
  • Intrinsic stains
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Uneven teeth
  • Misalignment
  • Small teeth

Many of our Laurel patients report that porcelain veneers help them feel more confident about their appearance.

Candidacy

Candidates for porcelain veneers must be in good oral health to ensure a strong foundation for longterm results. In order to place veneers, patients should also have adequate healthy tooth structure to support the porcelain shells. During your cosmetic consultation at our Laurel dental practice, one of our dentists will determine if you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers.

Porcelain Veneer Options

We offer two porcelain veneer options: traditional and minimal-prep. Traditional veneers require natural tooth structure to be removed in order to create space for the porcelain shells. In contrast, minimal-prep options are extremely thin and consequently need only a small amount of space. As a result, patients who choose minimal-prep veneers can retain significantly more of their natural tooth structure. While both traditional and minimal-prep options offer aesthetic results, patients who have smaller amounts of enamel removed are less likely to develop side effects such as temperature sensitivity following treatment.

A Look at the Procedure

Traditional porcelain veneers are typically placed in two visits to our Laurel dental practice. During the first, one of our doctors will prepare your tooth. This straightforward procedure involves removing some of the enamel on your tooth with a special drill. Local anesthesia will be administered to ensure that you are comfortable throughout this procedure. Once your teeth are prepped, a mold can be taken of your mouth and you will be given temporary veneers.

Once your permanent veneers are manufactured, a second visit to our office will be scheduled. During this second and final visit, one of our doctors will ensure that the porcelain veneers are a perfect fit before attaching them with a strong cement. Any minor adjustment can be made at that time.

Many patients report that it takes a few days or even weeks to adjust to the new veneers. You can lower the risk of damaging your new smile by maintaining good oral hygiene habits and scheduling regular check-ups at our office.
